Mary Penley

Welcome to kindergarten! My name is Mary Pat Penley and this is my sixth year teaching kindergarten in Helena.

I started teaching in 1993, after graduating from Eastern Montana College.  After a few years teaching in Montana, I married Tim, and started moving all over the country.  In 1997, I received my Masters in Special Education from the University of Northern Colorado.  I have been lucky enough to teach in Virginia, Colorado, New Mexico, Texas and Hawaii. Tim and I have three kids. Amanda, Tyler and Thomas are students at Capital High School….yes, I have three teenagers!

Our classroom is built on learning and laughter. We love to have a good time!  Five and six year-old’s learn best while doing, so we are a busy classroom!

Class Mission Statement:  We are smart and we are kind!

Class Vision:  To learn and have fun!

Meet Ms. Caroline:

Miss Caroline will be helping us out this year, we are so lucky to have her.

Class lists will be out after Kindercamp, August 21 and 22. Look for a postcard in the mail or you can email me at mpenley@helenaschools.org to set up a time that I can stop by and say hello.

Home visits are a great way to connect before the first day of school on September 4th. I love meeting families, meeting the family dog and cat…sometimes, turtles and snakes, too…..

Please, don’t stress about the visits, they are very informal, I only stay for about 20 minutes to introduce myself and answer any questions you may have. By the way, clean houses intimidate me. (remember, I have three kids)

It’s going to be a great year!

Feel free to pick up school supplies and see our classroom on August 28th at Bryant’s open house from 5:00-6:00pm.
